So how do I get Firefly Berries’ strawberries in 2025? How does it work?

As of June 23, our 2025 Strawberry season is over. We are no longer filling order requests.

Frequently asked strawberry questions???

  • Can I order several large flats at the same time? Unfortunately no. Due to the smaller quantity of strawberries we grow and the large volume of interested customers, we do limit each customer to 10 lbs of berries at a time. If you would like to purchase more, we can add you back on the list once we fill your order the first time. If you want to purchase a combination of strawberries (i.e. 1 quart and 1 four lb flat) there is an option on the Google form to list these specific needs/requests.
  • How much do the various sizes cost? We offer strawberries in three different sizes — Quarts (approximately 1 1/4 lbs) for $8 each, Four pound flats for $24 each, and 10 lb flats for $55 each. We try to give you a slightly better price per pound the more you order.
  • How long will the season go? We anticipate starting around June 10 and going for 2-3 weeks. It is always dependent on the weather. We do grow two different varieties that ripen in succession to help extend our season. Generally the strawberry season is done by the end of June.
  • Can we purchase strawberries anywhere besides the call list with farm pick up? Yes. We do hope to sell strawberries on a first come/first serve basis at the Rochester Farmers Market.  However, when we set up at the market we only bring quarts and 4 lb flats — no ten pound flats.
  • Do you spray anything on the strawberries? Are they organic? Although we are not certified organic, we do not spray any synthetic chemicals on our farm. We pull weeds by hand and use crop rotation and cover crops to keep the soil healthy. Due to the intense and unpredictable weather conditions in the past years, however, we have opted to use a homemade natural fungicide on the plants this year. It is composed of potassium bicarbonate, water and dish soap. We are spraying this on the leaves every 10-14 days to increase pH, making the leaves more alkaline and more resistant to fungal growth. So far we are seeing success in the strawberry field. Potassium bicarbonate is naturally occurring, safe for human consumption, and is approved as both an organic fungicide and a food additive.

Online Ordering– If we have more fruit than people on our call list, you will find it under the “shop” link at the top of our home page. Simply click on “fresh produce” and it will take you to your options. Here are a few more details to make your ordering process go smoothly.

For the 2024 grape season — Orders must be placed by 8 pm (Central time zone) the day BEFORE you wish to pick up the grapes. If you wish to order and pick up the same day, please call us at 507-252-1309 to place a phone order. We are rarely at our computer during business hours and will likely not see your order if it comes in online. Pick up for grapes is during our regular open you pick hours.

  • All orders must be placed and paid for online through our online shop.  If for some reason customers do not have access to the internet and/or a credit card for payment, we ask they call us at 507-252-1309 to place an order. We will do our best to work with customers to help them get the berries they are looking for.
  • When paying, you do NOT need to have or create a PayPal account in order to place your order and pay online.  Simply click on the the yellow PayPal link, and a box will pop up offering you the option to either log in (if you already have a PayPal account) or to use any debit/credit card to pay. • For strawberries – Orders must be placed during the ordering window (from 12 noon – 4 pm) on the same day you wish to pick them up. Pick up for strawberry orders is always at the farm and between 5-6 pm the same day you place order. If this pick up time does not work for you, please call to make alternate arrangements.
  • Once we receive your order, all customers will receive a confirmation email, confirming their order, as well as pickup directions and times. Please scroll all the way to the bottom of the page of this confirmation as it has pick up details included.
  • Customers who do not show up during the specified pick up times, and do not contact us to let us know of their extenuating circumstances, will be given a two hour grace period after the pickup time has ended.  After that time, the customer forfeits their fruit.  No refunds will be given for orders that do not follow this procedure.
  • If a customer cannot pick up their order personally, they can send a friend or family member to pick up the order in their place.

Important information/policies to note:

**Prepicked fruit is available through our call lists and on a first come, first serve basis.  If you are not seeing the quantity you wish to order online, it is likely we are all sold out. However, you are always welcome to call and confirm.
