Description
Each day of our lives we meet people, some in passing, and some that stick around awhile before moving on to their own adventures without us. But every once in a blue moon we meet someone who gets us, who knows what we are all about without even having to explain.
The Twisted Together Cowl is inspired by some amazing ladies who came into my life in just that way. I was attending my first knitting retreat, and the friends I came with were still at lunch, so I randomly sat down at a table with an open seat. These wonderful people welcomed me in like I was meant to be there. They asked questions and included me in conversations, and as they say, the rest was history. Fast forward ten years and many, many text and GroupMe messages later, we are still friends, twisted together by choice, by love, and by our common connection of knitting.
Like friendship, the Twisted Together Cowl has sections of ease (stockinette stitch) combined with slightly more challenging sections of my version of a double horizontal chain stitch. The ten stockinette sections can be created using ten different mini skeins or scraps or one color for all ten sections. When these ten sections are combined with a main color for the ribbing and double horizontal chain stitch sections, the result is both a relaxing project and a cozy finished object.
Pattern is knit with fingering weight yarn on a US2 with a gauge of 24 stitches and 36 rows over 4 inches. The main color requires 50 grams or approximately 200 yards, while the contrast color requires 8-10 grams for each stockinette section, 100 grams/400 yards total.
